JULY 2023

PRESTONWOOD NEWS
Dear Prestonwood Rotarians
It was a pleasure to be your Assistant District Governor last year. I enjoyed the fellowship so much that I decided to join your club. I thank you for welcoming me as well as the twelve of us from the East Dallas Rotary Club.

For those that don't know, the EDR was the second oldest club in Dallas County. Last year we celebrated our 75th anniversary. During that time, we have a long history of providing service through our club, community, and international projects.

Unfortunately, covid took a toll on our numbers as we lost eighteen of our members in the last several years. Then our weekly meeting place, Seasons 52, was shut down in January. This was an irrecoverable blow to us. The East Dallas Rotarians looked at multiple clubs to join and are so pleased that you asked us to be a part of your club. Under Vickie's leadership, we look forward to blending our two clubs together and continuing the many projects that Rotary offers to our world.

Sincerely,
Mike Callahan

Installation of PRC Officers
The Installation of Officers for Prestonwood took place at Arthur's Steakhouse on June 21, 2023.  PDG Sandra Forster installed and challenged each of the officers to lead in the coming year.  We were excited to see many of our District friends as well as our members join in the celebration.
See our PowerPoint for more pictures of the event.
Learning about Tattoos
What a great program we had this past Wednesday.  We were excited to have owners from Rebel Muse, Cook and Ellen, along with Mike and one of their lead designers talk with us about tattoos.  A lot of the stigma for us left the room and we understand the art just a little more.
District 5810 Conference Cruise
If you missed the presentation of the District Conference Cruise, here is a PowerPoint that will give you an idea of the investment made by local Rotarians.

Fire-Rescue Appreciation Day
Fire-Rescue Appreciation Day is one we all look forward to.  This is an annual occurrence at Prestonwood Rotary.  This year we honored three Dallas Fire-Rescue members with a plaque for outstanding service.  These three were highly recommended by their divisions.  Other Dallas Fire-Rescue members joined us for a delicious lunch and accolades for those being honored.
