PRESTONWOOD NEWS
Prestonwood Club Awards

Congratulations to our Prestonwood Club Award recipients:  April Culver, Michael Callahan, and David Echols.

April Culver received the Rich Amber Award which honors Rick Amber, the founder of Challenge Air for Kids and Friends.  It is given to members of the Prestonwood Rotary Club for current involvement in a community service activity within our community.  This involvement is beyond the usual scope of participation in Club activities.

DGN Mike Callahan was awarded the Oscan Smith Humanitarian Award to an individual who has:  1) made outstanding contributions, via direct involvement in program(s) assisting those in need and in the improvement of humanity.  2) often volunteered to help those who have been unwillingly deprived of basic comforts of living.

David Echols received the Harry Sebel Award for Membership which was created to honor Harry Sebel and his contributions to furthering the membership of Prestonwood Rotary Club.

Prestonwood Welcomes New President - Bill Persefield

The installation ceremony for the new president, Bill Persefield, on June 26, 2024, was well-attended. The evening began with dinner for thirty-three people at Desperado's, attended by Rotarians and their guests.

Mike Callahan presented The ROC (Metro Family Ministries) with a check for $1,000 to assist them in rebuilding their damaged building during the last storm. Darrell Lancaster accepted the check and thanked Prestonwood for their continued commitment to The ROC

Outgoing president Vickie Campbell gave a heartfelt farewell. PDG Howard Templin then led the event, officiating the installation of Bill Persefield and his board of directors for the 2024-2025 term, under the theme 'Rotary is Magic!' Bill reflected on the previous year's achievements and shared his vision and aspirations for the upcoming Rotary year.  Congratulations Bill, we look forward to a eventful year.

International Water Project - Roatan
A note and FB post from the Rotary Club of Roatan:
Thank you, to our partner Rotary Club of Prestonwood - Dallas, for your generous $3,500 donation! Together with the Rotary Club of Roatan, we will be installing a storage facility, water pump, and rain collection system at Dionisio de Herrera Public School in Oak Ridge. This initiative ensures clean water access year-round, benefiting 850 students and 1,500 community members, including families who rely on weekend access and particularly, ensuring girls to have consistent access to clean water throughout the school year.

THE FLAG STILL WAVES - HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
A special thank you to one of our Flag Leasees who sent us this wonderful picture.  Here are her comments: "Good evening! I wanted to let you all know that we had some major tree damage at our home but look what stood proudly in our yard! It’s actually a little bent at the bottom of the pole, but so proud that it withstood the storm!"
